Sit back and relax...

Hey there, I hope you're having a good week so far! Work deadlines and revision for upcoming exams have left little time for stamping but I did get the chance to sit down over the weekend to make a card for my dad's birthday - it's just taken me three days to get around to posting it!

I was totally uninspired when I sat down to make it, as is usually the way when I have to tackle a card for the opposite sex, so I used a few challenges for inspiration:

Stacey's Stamping Stage colour challenge:

... and the Card Positioning Systems sketch:

And this is what I came up with - one of Karen Lockhart's fabulous-to-colour images (how inviting does this chair look?!) paired with a setiment so apt for a workaholic like my dad!

Recipe:
Stamps: Adirondack Chair/Sentiment (Lockhart stamps)
Card: Kraft/Stamper's Select White(PTI)/Night of Navy(SU)/Lagoon (Memory Box)
Ink: Memento black
Other: Copic Sketch Markers/Night of Navy ribbon(SU)/Cuttlebug embossing folder/corner chomper/linen thread(SU)/Enchanted Evening button(PTI)

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you have time to sit back and relax too!

Happy Friday! How is everyone? Not too many coughs and colds I hope :) I've had a cold all week which won't shift and is just really annoying me now! I'm really going to try to take it easy for the next few days as I'm going to Paris on Sunday for a few days with a friend. We only decided to go last night... I love impulsive travel plans!!

Here are a few Chrissy cards I made with the yummy Jolly by Golly Cosmo Cricket papers and one of the beautiful Lockhart angel stamps - I just love colouring these. (They're from Ellen Hutson in the US)

Pull up a chair

Men's cards .....tricky aren't they! This is a card I made for a dear family friend in Australia, the image is a Lockhart stamp, stamped on Kraft card and coloured with Copics and Prismacolor pencils. I love this chair, doesn't it look so inviting!

Some navy blue and vintage brads.... traditional but I think it works, so long as he likes it that's all that matters!

After a glorious few days of sunshine it's grey and drizzly today :( Come on summer!!!

Thanks for visiting today!

Easter picnic

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend! Anyone else happy not to eat chocolate for a few days??!!

This is the card and little gift I gave to my dear dad for Easter. He's not a big chocolate fan so I bought some spiced nuts and packaged them up with a card to match. These seem to be my go-to male colours - Cream, Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip.

The stamp is a Lockhart image, coloured with Copics - for the bag I cut him out and used him as a tag. Background paper on the card is Kraft paper from the Level 1 hostess 6 x 6 paper pack.

Yesterday (which was a Bank Holiday here in the UK) my best friend Ashley, her husband and their beautiful baby girl came to visit - Ashley and I shared a house at university, then lived together in London for years. Now we live 5 hours away from each other so time together is very precious!

Thankfully we had a glorious sunny day so we went out and had lovely picnic - I love this picture Ashley took of me and Sophie!!

Hope everyone has a great week, thanks for visiting!

Sniff sniff

My poor mum has been in bed with the lergy this past week so I thought this Lockhart Tissue box would be appropriate to make a card to cheer her up. It's awful when someone is ill and there's not a lot you can do to help, but a handmade card or gift brightens anyone's day!

I thought I'd combine it with the SCS Limited Supply Challenge from the Friday before last (LSC 188) - the challenge was to create a card using NO embellishments! What?!!

Image was cut and matted using Nesties and coloured with Copics. I used some of last year's SU! paper (retired but available while stocks last), Always Artichoke and So Saffron c/s. All sides were distressed with a distressing tool. I sponged Antique Linen Distress Ink on the edges (with Ranger's fabulous Ink Blending Tool) to soften it and rolled the corners down. Hard to resist adding any embellishments tho!!

Have a great week x

Recipe-
Stamps - Tissue Box - Lockhart/Sentiment - SU! Sincere Salutations
Ink - Memento/Versafine/Distress Ink - Antique Linen
Paper/Cardstock - Always Artichoke and So Saffron/Le Jardin DSP (all SU!)
Other - Nestabilities/Cuttlebug/Copic markers/Tonic paper distresser/Ink blending tool (ranger)

I'm not really a knitter - I know how to but it's never going to be a life passion! For some though I know it is, as is the case with a dear family friend. She can whip up an amazing jumper in no time and pretty much knit with her eyes closed.

So I thought this Lockhart Basket of yarn stamp was perfect for her. Cut with nesties, coloured with Copics and some yummy Cosmo Cricket paper. Mini tag is a Cuttlebug die.

Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe-
Stamps - Basket of Yarn (Lockhart)/Happy Birthday (Blade Rubber)
Cardstock/Paper - Memory Box/Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie (Ella)
Ink - Memento
Other - Nestabilities/Cuttlebug/Cuttlebug tag dies/Copic markers/ribbon (Basic Grey)
